All things work together
All things work
together
God is wise and he has everything planned. Its autumn and the trees are shedding their
leaves; the neighbor's tree leaves are all over the place, so I decided to
clean the yard as I do so I realize my two elderly male neighbors were also
cleaning their yards.
I collected leaves from them and used the dried leaves as
mulch in my garden. Mulching is the material (such as decaying leaves, bark, or
compost) spread around or over a plant to enrich or insulate the soil. I
covered my basil, joseph coat, mustard greens, rosemary, jalapeno, and sage
with the mulch. Mulch is used to retain moisture in the soil, suppress weeds,
keep the soil cool, and make the garden bed look more attractive. Organic
mulches like leaves also help improve the soil's fertility, as they decompose.
What I find amazing is how God has all this planned out and
has everything working together for good. Autumn is for a reason, the dry
leaves are not useless they serve a purpose to protect plants and nourish the
soil. They have a purpose in ensuring continuity, other plants can die in
winter because of the cold, but when you cover the plants with mulch the mulch
keeps the plants warm through the winter season and improves its chances to
survive. As the leaves decompose it nourishes the soil.
Everything God does is for a purpose, even what we consider as
dirt, God has a purpose for it, and nature depends on it for continuity.
Autumn/dried leaves
lesson
If the sovereign God has a purpose for what we consider dirt
and He even has a purpose for dried leaves that are shed by the trees. What
more about you the ample of his eye, the one created after his image and
likeness
Genesis 1v 26
26 Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our
likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the
sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, [a] and over all the
creatures that move along the ground.”

Wow, I used to get frustrated by the amount of bags of leaves I have to fill every weekend from trees in my yard and those from my neighbors.
ReplyDeleteOn the other hand, I also used to get discouraged from the fact that my vegetable garden didn't produce much, most seed didn't thrive in. Instead of throwing all leaves away, I took note from this blog, I will try and put them to good use to fertilise the soil.
Stay blessed.
This is so funny, a few days ago I was looking at those leaves and thinking "at some point we must clean up this mess". Today I am amazed to discover they play such an important role to protect other plants. Lesson learned!
ReplyDeleteIndeed, all of us have a specific purpose in life. Thanks for the enlightening words.
The dried leaves thing has at least two camps: Those who hate dry leaves and rake them up to get rid of them. Then there's the rest of us who come to see the leaves are our friends and food for the soil. Recently a garden services person looked at me in frustration and asked:''All these leaves - can we not make your plant beds NEAT?"
ReplyDeleteThe dried leaves carpet also helps when one wants to plant new seedli ngs.
My grandmother was an avid gardener and she used to make us gather all the fallen leaves and cow dung, everyday during the autumn months. This was to feed the chickens, clean the house, yes the house and layer the garden and her small farm to prepare the soil for the next crops. Did not understand all the hooha about it until very late it life when I grew an interest in gardening. That's when I got astonished by God's fondness for dirt and how He used the same dirt to nourish the life bearing medium (soil) to repeatedly grow plants and trees. I must say, it's an interesting circle of life. And yes, God is a gardener and a magnificent one!
