Jade Plant : lesson one

 Can this situation become better?

He asked me, “Son of man, can these bones live?” I said, “Sovereign LORD, you alone know.” Then he said to me, “Prophesy to these bones and say to them, 'Dry bones, hear the word of the LORD! This is what the Sovereign LORD says to these bones: I will make breath enter you, and you will come to life.

Ezekiel 37:3

We moved into our new home a few years ago. There was this seemingly dead plant in the front yard. I seem to recall thinking I had to throw it away after looking at it. Fortunately for the plant, it rained before I had a chance to clean the yard. I was surprised by what I saw. Ezekiel 37:3 was happening in my front yard.

Son of man, can these bones live?”

I later learned that the name of my resurrected plant is Jade. A succulent-leaved plant that requires minimal care. The plant, which I thought was dead, was not dead; it just needed a little rain.

The jade plant taught me that certain situations are similar to those in our lives and that they are not hopeless; they simply need a little rain. What may rain represent? The right season, reading the word, declaring the word of God, or praying.

God is capable of bringing that dead situation, dream, or heart desire to life if you give him a chance. Your situation can change. I have learned that the jade plant is considered effective in reducing air pollution and improving air quality in closed environments. I have one in my office and at home, and all this came from a plant I wanted to throw away because I thought it was dead.
