Propagation part 2: Sow bountifully and you will reap bountifully.

But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.

2 Corinthians 9:6

As we continue with last week's topic on propagation through cuttings the above scripture or principle should be applied in the process. The more cuttings you have, the better are your chances because the bible says in the book of Ecclesiastes 11 verse 6.

In the morning sow your seed, and in the evening do not withhold your hand; For you do not know which will prosper, either this or that, or whether both alike will be good.

We usually use 2 Corinthians 9 verse 6 in church for offering, today allow me to use it literally. If you plan to grow plants through cuttings you don’t know which one will develop roots and which ones won't. From experience, I have found that not all my cuttings develop roots. It’s wise to have as many cuttings as possible to increase your chances.

A month or two ago I propagated nineteen Sage cuttings, and I have been patiently waiting for them to develop roots, and this was my first time using rooting hormone powder. I planted the cuttings directly into the soil and covered the cuttings with plastic bottle to protect them from the cold. Unlike the usual process of placing the cuttings in a glass of water. Three days back I checked on the progress and nine of my cuttings have started developing roots, some more than others. I can’t explain the joy of seeing those roots, I was dancing and singing glory hallelujah alone in my back yard, hope nobody saw me.

As we prepare for spring if you plan to grow plants through cuttings, saw bountifully because you don’t know which one will succeed, either this or that. I continue to patiently wait to see if the Parsley will develop roots.  But I am concerned because I saw a little discoloration on the leaves yesterday, and that is not a good sign. Usually, when the plant is happy and in the process of developing roots, the few leaves left on top remain green. But I am still hoping and trusting. I will keep you updated. Shalom
